Cookies
Cookies are undoubtedly the most beloved crispy treats enjoyed by children and a staple at family gatherings, making them a popular choice across the globe. In many countries, particularly in the United States, cookies are considered one of the most iconic varieties of biscuits. What sets cookies apart from regular biscuits is their delightful diversity in flavor and texture. While traditional biscuits are typically simple and free from fillings or additives, cookies stand out for their rich and varied ingredients. They are often packed with indulgent fillings such as chocolate chunks, oats, coconut, or nuts, creating an irresistible combination of sweetness and crunch. This versatility has made cookies a favorite among all ages, easily adapting to different tastes and preferences, and ensuring their place as a beloved treat in homes and parties worldwide.
Cookies with chocolate chips
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 sticks (or 1 cup) of unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 3/4 cup of packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup of granulated white sugar
- A dash of vanilla extract
- 2 cups of chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
- 1 cup of chopped walnuts
Preparation :
- Begin by whisking the eggs and softened butter together in a large mixing bowl. Once combined, add the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Use an electric mixer to beat the mixture until smooth and creamy.
- Next, gradually incorporate the white sugar and brown sugar, continuing to whisk the mixture with the electric mixer. Beat until the batter achieves a fluffy, creamy texture.
- Sift the flour and baking powder together in a separate bowl to remove any lumps, and then slowly add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon to maintain the airiness of the dough, making sure everything is well combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate pieces and chopped walnuts, mixing until the dough is evenly distributed.
- Place the cookie dough in the fridge for 30 minutes to help it firm up and hold together better during baking.
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Line a flat baking tray with parchment paper to prevent the cookies from sticking.
- After the dough has chilled, take spoonfuls of it and roll them into balls, spacing them evenly on the tray. Leave a little room between each ball of dough to allow for spreading as they bake.
- Place the dough in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 10 minutes, or until the edges turn a light golden brown. Be sure to monitor them closely to prevent over-baking
- Once done, remove the tray from the oven, but let the cookies cool completely on the tray. This allows them to firm up correctly and helps avoid breakage
- After they’ve cooled, your cookies are ready to be served and enjoyed!

- 1 teaspoon of butter (softened)
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 1/2 cups of rolled oats
- 1/2 cup of black raisins
- 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts
Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Grease a baking tray with 1 teaspoon of butter to prevent the cookies from sticking.

- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring well until everything is evenly incorporated.
- Next, add in the oats, raisins, and chopped walnuts. Mix everything together thoroughly. The dough should be sticky but firm, and well combined.
- Using a spoon or your hands, form the dough into small circles or balls and place them on the prepared baking tray. Make sure to leave a bit of space between each dough ball so the cookies can spread as they bake.
- Place the tray in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.
- Once the cookies are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool on the tray for a few minutes. This will help them set properly and prevent breaking.
- After they have cooled slightly, transfer the cookies to a wire rack or a plate to cool completely. Once cooled, they’re ready to be served and enjoyed!
