Donuts
Donuts are distinctive for their hollow, circular shape and come in a wide variety of flavors. You can find classic doughnuts, chocolate donuts, fruit-flavored varieties, and those filled with various fillings like chocolate cream, apple jam, strawberries, or apricots. Often, they are coated in chocolate sauce, sugar, or cinnamon, and may be adorned with colorful chocolate sprinkles or caramel pieces.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup icing sugar
- 3 teaspoons yeast
- A pinch of salt
- 1 cup lukewarm milk
- 100 grams melted butter
- 3 egg yolks
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Preparation :
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, 3 teaspoons of yeast, and a pinch of salt. Stir until evenly distributed.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Form a well in the center of the dry mix. Pour in 1 cup of lukewarm milk, 100 grams of melted butter, and 3 egg yolks.
- Create the Dough: Mix the ingredients together until they form a smooth, cohesive dough.
- Knead the Dough: Lightly flour a surface and knead the dough until it is soft and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
- Allow to Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area until it has doubled in size.
- Shape the Donuts: Roll the dough out on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/2 inch. Use a donut cutter or a round cutter to shape the donuts, and a smaller cutter or bottle cap for the centers.
- Proof the Donuts: Let the shaped donuts rest on a floured surface for about 15 minutes to allow them to rise slightly.
- Fry the Donuts: Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts in batches, turning them as needed, until they are golden brown on both sides, approximately 1-2 minutes per side.
- Coat with Cinnamon Sugar: In a bowl, mix together sugar and ground cinnamon. Roll the warm donuts in the mixture to coat them evenly.
