Pepperoni Pizza
Pepperoni is an Italian-American food product made from a blend of meats, typically beef and pork, seasoned with a variety of spices and often given a spicy kick. It’s a popular topping for one of the most famous types of pizza: pepperoni pizza. Today, we’ll show yu ladies and gentlemen how to prepare this beloved pizza at home.
Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- A pinch of salt
For the Sauce:
- 1/2 cup pepperoni, sliced into thin circles
- 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
- 1 kilogram (about 2 pounds) tomatoes, peeled and chopped
- 5 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (or dried thyme)
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of black pepper
Preparation :
Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, combine 4 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, 2 teaspoons of sugar, and a pinch of salt.
- Add 4 tablespoons of olive oil and 1/2 cup of warm water to the dry ingredients.
- Mix with your hands until a cohesive dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a cotton cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).
Prepare the Sauce:
- While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Place 1 kilogram (about 2 pounds) of peeled and chopped tomatoes in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring to a boil and cook until the tomatoes reduce slightly and their excess water evaporates.
- Stir in 5 tablespoons of ketchup, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano (or thyme), a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper.
- Continue to cook for a few more minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
Assemble the Pizza:
- Grease a baking tray with a small amount of oil and set aside.
- Sprinkle flour on a clean, solid surface. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out to your desired thickness and shape.
- Transfer the rolled dough to the prepared baking tray.
- Spread a thin layer of the prepared sauce evenly over the dough.
- Sprinkle 2 cups of grated mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Arrange 1/2 cup of thinly sliced pepperoni on top of the cheese.
Bake the Pizza:
- Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
Serve:
